The word jeffing might have you raising your eyebrows, but it is a legitimate term for the technique of blending walking and running.
Named after US Olympian and author Jeff Galloway, jeffing hinges on the principle of combining running with walking, allowing you to exercise for longer without putting too much strain on the body.
I spoke to running coaches and experts to understand how jeffing can enable more people to go running.
While the running industry explodes, it could leave some people behind because they are injured, can’t run fast, or simply don’t have the ability.
That’s where jeffing comes in.
A 2016 study in the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport found that non-elite runners who jeffed reached the finish line of a marathon in roughly the same time as nonstop runners, despite the difference in pacing.
